Interview: Santa Cruz

A few hours before the gig kicks off at Scala in London, we have the chance to sit down with Santa Cruz, the opening act for Reckless Love. Santa Cruz are a band that is creating quite a buzz these days in the rock world and they are bringing back that glam vibe with a modern twist for all of us 80’s nostalgic. Their music is pure energy and it’s perfectly produced. They have great guitars, melodic catchy songs, a singer who can sing his lungs out like a proper rocker and a band that has the right attitude and impact on stage. We wouldn’t have imagined this interview to be any less wild and exciting.

You guys started in 2007, how much has changed since then?

Archie (lead vocals): Everything, we used to all be friends but now we hate each other (laughs).

Are you enjoying touring with Reckless Love?

Archie: The first two days were OK but now we just can’t stand each other anymore and we got a whole tour to finish… No actually it’s been great!

So far is there any show in particular that have impressed you?

Archie: Too many plus I got this condition called short length memory that is probably due to the fact that I drink quite a lot of whisky. (Laughs) Only joking! We really can’t remember one in particular.

If you could choose three bands out there to tour with, who would they be?

Archie: Rammstein, Prodigy and of course Justin Bieber and Manson. That would be so dope because Justin is cool and Manson is even cooler.

For those who may not have heard of your music yet, how would you describe it?

Archie: It’s like Village People with a taste of black metal in it.

Do you have a favourite track of yours, that you are particularly proud of?

Archie: The next one that we are going to release ‘Skydiving Without a Parachute’. It will have sick guitars, bass, drums and melody. It’s gonna make it bigger that Bieber!

What’s the best part of being in a well known band?

Archie: I don’t know, I’ll tell you that in a year or two or twenty. We are modest, you know.

Johnny (Guitar): Ask Manson!

Do you have any kind of pre-show ritual that you like to do?

Archie: Worship Satan! Getting in contact with a different world and experiment black magic (laughs).

Any plan for the future you want to talk about?

Archie: World domination that will end in a crazy barbecue in Texas.

Do you have a message for your fans?

Archie: We love you, sweethearts, darlings. And we love you more than other bands do!
