Ghost Iris design hard-hitters & heart pounding stompers on Apple Of Discord

By being a leading outfit in the ever expansive metalcore scene, Danish band Ghost Iris, provide another level of brashness with their new record Apple Of Discord. The act, pulverise the notion of playing cool, of lowering the sound that they’ve wholeheartedly created. Skimping isn’t in their DNA, running scared isn’t an option, playing loud, unapologetic, music is their absolute calling. Furthermore, they haven’t changed their formula much. This isn’t a bad thing, as we all know they’re prominent guitar players, shredders of the highest order, doing what they love. Orchestrating powerful, somewhat dreamy choruses throughout Apple Of Discord also adds diversity, it’s not all throat burning screaming, although it’s palatable for the hardened metalcore fan. Screaming out their feelings is ruthless. Ghost Iris are ruthless when it comes to connecting the dots musically and Apple Of Discord, is their record of tenacity.

Lyrically we’re taken into a world of smashed dreams and hopelessness stinging like the deepest of cuts. Predominantly, the band don’t hoover over their secrets, they don’t conceal their feelings, and they let them burst through the over-skin. And by letting these feelings out of their cages, we as listeners will promptly display affection. To be honest, Ghost Iris’s music isn’t for everyone, that sounds cliched, but it’s true. They don’t make easy sounds to listen to when the sunset is imminent. They design hard-hitters, heart pounding stompers, which don’t hide in a cotton wool coating. ‘Final Tale’, ‘Beauty In Expiration’, and ‘Heaven Was Pure Hell’, are the tracks to fill your life with. They’re all guitar driven, melodic, and beat like thumping hearts. And Apple Of Discord proves Ghost Iris haven’t lost their way either. On this release, they still play like they’re under the influence of mania, tapping their left side to feel their hearts surging.

Apple Of Discord is out 22nd February 2019 via Long Branch Records.
