Review: Arrowhead – Desert Cult

The start of this thunderous masterpiece is really an audial blaze of passion and very pleasing to the ears. It really hits the gut with force, but there is no way I am turning it down! It fair on takes your breath away and is a distinctive and irresistible track that hypnotises and taunts the senses with plenty of enticement and vigour! Funnily enough the next track is called ‘Hypnotizer’ and it snakes and spirals with deliberate seductive charm and escalates with gripping effect. The force is still with you as it tantalises and rips your heart out with chunky grooves!

‘Hell Fire’ is reminiscent of early Sabbathesque riffs but the band can be forgiven that, as they have exorcised the rhythm and made it their own. Full on satisfaction guaranteed! ‘Bone Mountain’ is another fantastic track that excels in bounce and vitality as the rhythms protrude from the speakers and leave a legacy of sheer attitude and addiction, with penetrating riffs and rock solid beats it eats you from the inside out.

‘Man-eater Blues’ contains a familiar stoner rumble and is very catchy in its own right. The addictive chunks of groove are mesmerising and very satisfying. ‘Weed Lord’ has a creepy but unassuming vibe attached to it and very bass-laden. It sends chills down the spine and gives you goose-bumps on your goose-bumps!! It’s a hearty and wholesome track that goes the distance to impress making it another embracing track with clout! The bluesy rhythms are profound giving the listener another track of high calibre enterprise.

‘Rogue Asteroid’ is a jagged and rough diamond in the mix. It shines brightly and is a real gem. Roaring with ferocity, hard melody and rancour – just try not to move to this, it is impossible. ‘Dragon whips its Tail’ does what it says on the jar and whips away ferociously with a bluesy swagger! Igniting an addictive flair with multi-dimensional rhythms that bind like super glue!

This is one mega-fantastic album that deserves attention. Every riff and rhythm has been crafted to perfection and thoroughly addictive. I bet live this band are just a phenomenon!

From start to finish, they feed on musical jet fuel that when ignited turns into a molten hot bed of irresistible catchiness infused with heavy rhythms that really light the touch paper!

If I were you I would seriously think about buying this superb album!
