Review: Deathless Legacy – Dance with Devils

Like with a good horror movie, this keeps you gripped with evil and demonic keyboard chills that run the full length of your spine and leaving it feeling like it will shatter with the arctic frost that has now engulfed your body.

There are certainly a lot of satanic vibes going on here as the second track gets into full swing. This damsel is in search of a protector – mainly for the ears! The witches are preparing their spells and there’s no looking back. The bubbling magic boiling over the cauldron is anything but sweet, but I don’t think you would expect it any other way? Steva has things sewn up and that could mean your eyelids! Sounding like a witch’s coven, the spells are all boiled as the frantic energy escapes and festers like a gluey mass, waiting to infest its innocent victim.

Headless Horseman’ is an epic tale of sorcery and witchery but done with melodic keyboards and is a very manipulative track. ‘The Black Oak’ obviously conjures up a hanging tree, for me anyway, and no doubt a few necks will feel the noose tighten as the witch casts more black magic spells for you to feel her wrath!

Now, is the time for ‘Lucifer’ to throw a spanner in the works as the deadly master points a finger in the direction of the listener in order to keep them on their toes? ‘Voivode’ sounds rather medieval with its rampaging melodies and tight drum beat, with Steva at the helm executing the grim story.

There is one thing that needs to be mentioned and that is a lot of thought has gone into these tracks both vocally and musically – it is all very powerful stuff dealing with the black arts and tales of witchery and potions, it’s all extremely well produced. The tracks are individually wrapped, so to speak with each one holding their delights like a massive box of chocolates, although there are no soft centres in this box! The band endeavour and indeed pull off what they set out to do and that is to tell their wicked stories in musical form. Seducing and hoodwinking their audience, with twisted riffs and demonic keyboards. It all sounds rather gruesome – it is but with all witchery you won’t know you have been cursed until it is too late to act.

Gruesome to the last!

Deathless Legacy Dance with Devils is out via Scarlet Records on 27th January 2017.
