Review: Dreamshade – Vibrant

dreamshadeFor me, music has always felt very personal. One of the best feelings in the world is hearing an album that gets you. So what does an album need to ‘get me’, firstly and most importantly it has to be crafted with passion. Of course, the talent needs to be there, no passionate band would get to where they are without having played and practised enough to ensure talent. As much as I always need umpth and power in my music, I also love something that you can sing along to. Don’t you just love a melodic guitar that you can also sing too?

Dreamshades melodic guitar seems to be part of their DNA. They always have a sound that creates a feeling of progression. They are uplifting and inspiring, even when they are talking about “Losing Touch”. Their music feels like it gives hope to moving on.

When you delve deeper into the album you realise that the lyrics are a reflection of relationships with humans. On further investigation, I discover the band said that Vibrant is an album that “recognises shifts in relationships can either strengthen or weaken a person” and “the new record is a call to learn and grow from inevitable change”. It’s interesting to ponder the effects of family, friends, and romantic relationships on you as a person.

Whether this album speaks to you or not, it is very well produced and certainly something to sign along to.

Vibrant is out now through Artery Recordings. You can also check out their video for ‘Dreamers Don’t Sleep’ below.
