Review: Pavilions – The Futures Mine to Make

I really do not know how these guys are still unsigned. They are sky rocketing and blasting out more Liverpool talent. It’s just a matter of time before they are up with all the other great acts. Pavilions have not long ago released their début album ‘The Future is Mine to Make’ which includes the blowing ‘Futures’ single.

First of all each song has their own unique fling. What I mean by this that each song has a broad range of soft and hard vocal, soft and harder riffs and the songs don’t sound the same.

‘Doing a Jamie Lee’ is a brilliant example of what the band can achieve a great combination of hard and soft vocals with an excellent guitar solo mid point to really spice it up.

‘Fallen Hero’ – Now, this song is interesting. Initially I thought it was about a relationship, but the more I listened to the lyrics I think it could be about a mate. “I can’t sleep cos of all the memories”, “Can’t take it in, reality is finally sinking in”, “I regret the words I said to you”. This initially make me think it’s about a relationship but “I can’t breathe, suffocating rest in peace” made me think it’s about a mate who passed. I could be wrong feel free to let us know what it could be about.

‘The Wave‘ ft Johnny Craig is next! This starts of slow building up the suspense is killing me when the first time I heard it (in a good way) then boom! Right into action. Tezz (the lead vocalist) can hit those high notes like slicing a watermelon with a katana! This song is a personal favorite from the album as it’s a good example of what the band is and how it’s unique and how it stands out from the crowd. The vocals plus the rock feel is a perfect mix.

‘Futures’ their debut single from the album is a prefect taster to what these guys are like, so perhaps start by watching the below video, if they are new to you.

Time to wrap it up – in all these songs are great examples and a clear indications that these guys have put thought into their music. They perfectly express Hard Rock. Pavilions put their heart and soul into the music.

8.5/10

Pavilions ‘The Futures Mine to Make’ is out now.
