BADSQUATCH Confronts the Darkness on Debut ‘Such a Burden’

American singer, songwriter, and producer BADSQUATCH has stepped out from behind his role as frontman of midwestern dystopian party rock trio The Party After to launch a solo career.

‘Such a Burden’ is a dark and brooding exploration of self loathing, drawing from alternative and industrial influences to create something that feels weighty. This is a slow moving journey of a song, built on sweeping vocals that pull you through its progressive, shadowy landscape.

The single emerged from the recording sessions for The Party After‘s powerhouse album Dopamine Machine, released in July 2025. During that process, BADSQUATCH wrote and recorded a wealth of material that didn’t fit the band’s vision, prompting him to dig into his personal archives and strike out on his own.

‘Such a Burden’ is the opening chapter of what BADSQUATCH describes as a concept album and mental health piece, rooted in shadow work and confronting the darker parts of oneself, all with healing and growth as the end goal.

“To dig deep into the music to come, much like the healing process, we must first start with addressing the darkness and the shadows that are difficult to own,” he says.

It’s a bold and vulnerable starting point. If the rest of this project carries the same emotional weight, BADSQUATCH could be building something genuinely powerful here.

BADSQUATCH has signed with new management under Pamela Parks at Headity.com. Stream ‘Such a Burden’ now.
