Award-winning Finnish guitarist and blues artist Erja Lyytinen is returning to these shores in October for her 50th Anniversary Rock Blues Birthday UK Tour.

“This year I’m celebrating the big number of turning 50, but I still feel like that 15-year-old girl who fell in love with playing electric guitar by listening to guitarists like Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore and wanting to travel around the world to play for audiences,” said Lyytinen. “We have updated our set list with some old gems and surprise numbers, so it’s going to be a lot of fun to come to the UK for a birthday tour!”

A leading blues rock guitarist on the international touring circuit, Erja Lyytinen has released thirteen studio albums and several live albums during a recording career spanning more than 20 years. Highlights from her creative career, some deep cuts and tracks from her most recent studio album, Smell The Roses, will be among the songs played on a special tour around the UK and mainland Europe.

“I did my first tour in the UK with Blues Caravan back in 2006, so it’s been exactly twenty years now doing gigs on this music lover’s island,” reminisced Lyytinen. “I remember how exciting it was for a young girl to finally do my first UK tour back then. What I loved the most was the fact that as native English speaking people, the audiences understood and related to my lyrics. The witty humour and friendly British people simply stole my heart.”

Erja Lyytinen’s seven-date UK tour takes in Dudley, Lamp Tavern (Thursday October 8), Sedgefield, Parish Hall (Friday October 9), Edinburgh, LaBelle Angele (Sunday October 11), Sheffield, The Greystones (Tuesday October 13), Oxford, The Bullingdon (Wednesday October 14), London, Half Moon (Thursday October 15), and Faversham, The Old Brewery Store (Friday October 16).

Tickets and further information are available from the Erja Lyytinen official website. If Erja Lyytinen is a name new to you, check out the live video of her performing ‘Stoney Creek’ from the Smell The Roses album, live at the Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland.
