Lamb of God have dropped one final single before Into Oblivion lands on 13th March, and ‘Blunt Force Blues’ is a proper groove metal stomper. Headbang territory from the opening riff.

Where the previous singles looked outward, this one turns the lens back on the Richmond scene that built them. It’s a love letter to the local bands, the basement shows, and the community that shaped five lads into one of metal’s most formidable forces. There’s a really great metal groove here that just locks in and refuses to let go.

Vocalist Randy Blythe puts it plainly: “We learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That’s what we aspired to do. Keep up with good local bands. They were just as much of an influence on us as any of the bigger bands from different cities.”

That authenticity runs right through ‘Blunt Force Blues’. Guitarist Mark Morton echoes the sentiment, describing the freedom that comes with 25+ years under your belt: “The album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation.”

Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, Into Oblivion was recorded across locations close to the band’s heart. Drums were tracked in Richmond, guitars and bass at Morton’s home studio, and Blythe laid down vocals at Total Access in Redondo Beach, the legendary studio behind classic punk records from Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, and Descendents.

The album follows a trio of singles that showcased serious range. ‘Sepsis’ honoured their early ’90s Richmond underground roots. ‘Parasocial Christ’ delivered a blistering three minute anti tech thrasher. The title track, ‘Into Oblivion’, proved the band can still deliver a gut punch after all these years.

For UK fans, Lamb of God headline the Friday at Bloodstock Open Air on 7th August 2026 as part of the festival’s 25th anniversary. Their North American tour with Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg kicks off 17th March. The band also return with their Headbangers Boat cruise featuring Zakk Sabbath, The Dillinger Escape Plan, In Flames, GWAR, The Haunted, D.R.I., and 200 Stab Wounds among others.

Into Oblivion is available to pre-order now via Century Media / Epic Records.
