Brash upbeat guitars and dance groove rhythms act as cathartic release from the mental anguish expressed lyrically in ‘Can’t Find Me’, the latest single from Red Giant featuring guitarist and vocalist Dave Simpson, drummer John Joe Gaskin, with Johnny Simpson on bass.
Penned by Simpson, a world-renowned YouTube presenter whose channel has amassed over 146,000 subscribers, the new single charts his complex journey dealing with mental problems caused by an uncaring school system that paradoxically encouraged the very bullying the authorities claimed they wanted to eradicate. Such so-called child guardians became part of the abuse by blaming the victim and ignoring the actions of the culprits.
The lack of support created a feeling of isolation, exclusion and of being ignored and unseen by those whose responsibility it was to look out for him. Simpson’s self-worth and respect were destroyed. Not feeling able to confide in family or friends led him to thoughts of self-harm, a path that others in his situation have taken, resulting in the ultimate release from their suffering by taking their own lives.
With Red Giant, Simpson’s willingness and ability to talk and write songs about this painful subject has resonated with many who find comfort, release and resolution in his words. ‘Can’t Find Me’ is the story of too many people, and it’s Red Giant‘s hope that the song reaches who it needs to and shows them that they are not alone, and being here is so much better than the other choices.
Simpson first picked up the guitar at 16 years old, performing in several bands, more recently The Dave Simpson Trio, a blues rock based band, before opting for a heavier rocking sound and co-founding Red Giant at the beginning of 2024.
Following touring and a debut album release, the band is looking to release Red Giant – Vol. 1, a brand new four track EP that will include ‘Can’t Find Me’ on Wednesday, 29th January 2026.
‘Can’t Find Me’ is available on all streaming platforms, and you can watch the official music video at RAMzine.
