While you’re wondering if you should go visiting this Christmas, put on ‘Ramblin’ On My Mind’ the new single from award-nominated husband-and-wife power duo Suzy Starlite & Simon Campbell.
Originally recorded nearly a century ago by Robert Johnson back in 1936, it tells of the universal human impulse to escape, seek self-discovery, and hit the road.
“Everyone, at some point, has felt the itch to escape… That feeling of having ‘ramblin’ on your mind’ is a fundamental part of the human experience,” noted Campbell discussing theirambitious, kickass seven-minute modern blues rock tribute, on which he played guitar, sang and produced
The music video chronicled the couple’s blues pilgrimage across the American South (Memphis, Clarksdale, Muscle Shoals). “This road trip was truly life-changing,” said bass player Starlite. “It was more than just visiting landmarks; it was about connecting with the roots of the music and the wonderful people who keep the flame alive. The video captures that energy—it’s a visual representation of the ramblin’ that led us to this tribute.”
Recording of the song was rounded out by drummer Steve Gibson, and Jonny Henderson playing Hammond organ at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales). Mastered by Jon Astley, ‘Ramblin’ On My Mind’ is available on all streaming platforms.
