We all know how great the song ‘Africa‘ is by Toto, it’s everywhere these days – even mobile adverts. You might think this would encourage bands to cover it? Well bands like Weezer may need a little reminder…
It all started when a Twitter user called ‘Weezer cover Africa by Toto’ (@weezerafrica) started bugging front man Rivers Como to cover the classic. According to an interview on Noisey, the user is a 14 year old who got into the song after watching Stranger Things on Netflix. Weezer did respond last week with a Toto cover – of ‘Rosanna‘. Oops.
As revealed on their YouTube account today, Weezer have caved and gaven us the ultimate alt-rock cover version!!
