RAMzine caught up with alt-rock band Adelphia, after this years Hit The Deck Festival. Adelphia had huge success with their first single ‘Do Your Worst’ achieving 50k hits on YouTube last year. They achieved the same in late 2013 with their second video for ‘Do Your Worst’. The band have now confirmed a third video saying, “This will be our biggest project and production”
RAMzine: How was Hit The Deck?
“HTD was INCREDIBLE! Although we weren’t at our best due to unforeseen circumstances, we have a great time playing out new set and the audience were amazing! We couldn’t of asked for more!”
“This years HTD was the polar opposite to last year! I mean last year was an intimate small room, which was cool and perfect for us at the time. Then you compare it to this years, which had a main stage to around 1000 people, it’s insane!”
How does HTD compare to other festivals?
“HTD feels like a home festival for us, obviously it’s in our home city but it feels like we are part of a family and they look after us really well, it just seems to be one big reunion with everyone we’ve met along the way.”
Did you attend the after party?
“We attended the after party of course, we all celebrated with some of our best friends, fans and people we look up to. It was the perfect way to end HTD.”
How would you describe your sound to someone new?
“We get asked this a lot and the phrase we keep coming out with is ‘melodic alternative rock’ It describes us well and covers our sound.”
It was with the release of your video ‘Do Your Worst’ that had a huge response and it’s really that track that seemed to first get you noticed. Why do you think it had such a huge response?
“We honestly had no idea ‘Do Your Worst’ would get the response it has, even now we get people that are discovering that song and it blows our minds that people sing the first song we released back to us after a year!”
“As a guess, the response we received seemed to be the foundational hype that had surrounded our band, this was our first release so there was bound to be expectation and eagerness to see what we had been working on.. But the rest? People must just like it.”
Then your second video ‘Lost At Sea’ is beautifully shot and a great track! Which had another great response. Tell us about the recording process…
“ ‘Lost At Sea’ was the best/worst shoot ever! It was shot in Cornwall on a hazy day late last year, we had an amazing idea of filming it on the beach but when we arrived there was fog everywhere! We had to lose half our day of filming to wait for the fog to clear. Eventually it did and we ended up having to abandon the beach scenes due to high tide! We couldn’t believe it, all that time and effort seemed wasted but then the sun came out and our director Daniel Broadley came up with an elaborate scheme to climb up this cliff against the sea as the sun was about to set and perform there. The results came out better than we had hoped for!”
Any plans for another video?
“We have plans for anther video to be released in the summer period, this will be our biggest project and production so far and we cannot wait to get it going!”
What’s next for Adelphia?
“Possibly a tour, expect a new single and possibly a new EP/Album but nothing is set in stone as of yet! 2014 has a lot more to offer from us, we have a few surprises in the bag and perhaps a tour if all goes to plan!”
“We just want to say thank you to everyone that came to see us at HTD.. Honestly the best moment of the bands career so far!”
