A.A. Williams has announced her third album, Solstice, set for release on 5th June via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), alongside a new single and video for ‘Hold It Together’.
The London based singer and songwriter has carved out a reputation for music that sits in the space between beauty and devastation, and ‘Hold It Together’ is no different. Another beautiful, haunting, devastating track that grips your emotions and allows you a companion for your feelings. The track captures the push and pull of keeping everything together on the outside while quietly falling apart within. It’s a feeling most of us know well, and Williams channels it with the raw honesty that’s become her signature.
Speaking about the track, Williams described a sense of fragile stillness, of shrinking into yourself to protect something you’re afraid of losing.
Solstice promises to be her most expansive work yet. Expect the cinematic dynamics and sweeping contrasts that have defined her sound, from stark, intimate moments through to enormous walls of distortion and catharsis. Strings, heavy guitars and that unmistakable voice all come together in what’s shaping up to be a powerful record.
Since her debut at Roadburn Festival, A.A. Williams has toured with the likes of Cult of Luna, Explosions in the Sky, Russian Circles and Sleep Token, and released two critically acclaimed albums in Forever Blue and As The Moon Rests. She even reworked her debut EP as a string ensemble piece with arco, drawing on her classical training to stunning effect.
Fans in the UK can catch her live at ArcTanGent Festival in Bristol on 22nd August, along with a string of European dates including shows supporting A Perfect Circle. Pre orders for Solstice open on 22nd April.
