Alice Cooper has announced 22-year-old British guitarist Anna Cara as his new guitarist, stepping in for Nita Strauss who is taking a break to welcome her first child this summer.
Anna, from Newcastle, England, has previously worked with Marc Storace of Krokus and Tommy Henriksen, who plays with both Alice Cooper and Hollywood Vampires. She made her debut on 2 April at Cooper’s special ‘Welcome To Our Nightmare’ shows in Las Vegas, a collaboration with illusionist Criss Angel.
Cooper said of his new recruit: “Nita found a brilliant British female guitarist to fill in for her while she is on maternity leave. Anna Cara is a beautiful dynamic shredder in the vein of Nita but with a style of her own. She will fit in with our gang perfectly.”
Anna was clearly buzzing about the opportunity, commenting: “This is like a dream come true, to join Alice and his great band. Back when I started playing guitar at 14, I was watching Alice Cooper live shows on YouTube dreaming of joining one day!”
Strauss herself gave the move her full backing, having previously named Anna as the best up-and-coming guitarist when asked in an interview.
Cooper’s packed schedule includes his ‘Alice’s Attic’ US tour from 14 April through 9 May, followed by a European run from 13 June to 12 July, taking in Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting, Copenhell and Tons of Rock.
