Los Angeles extreme metal outfit Ashen Horde have announced their fifth full length album, The Harvest, set for release on 1st May 2026. Alongside the announcement, the band have unveiled the first single and music video for ‘Entropy and Ecstasy’.
Over a decade of weaving black metal, death metal, progressive textures, and 90s inspired grit into something entirely their own, Ashen Horde continue to push their sound into new territory. The Harvest is the first album to feature new vocalist Karl Chamberlain (Putrefier, Alcyone, Necrotic Remains).
The lead single ‘Entropy and Ecstasy’ is a whirlwind of jagged riffs and angular, Voivod influenced progressions, built around Chamberlain’s soaring vocal hooks. The accompanying video marks a milestone for the band too, being the first time the members have appeared together on camera despite recording the entire album remotely.
Guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz has spoken about the album’s thematic thread. While previous Ashen Horde records were tightly constructed concept pieces, The Harvest takes a different approach. Each track stands alone, yet they all orbit the idea of endings, whether personal, societal, historical, or cosmic. From ancient rituals to the last days of Pompeii to an apocalyptic vision inspired by Iceland’s stark landscapes, the scope is ambitious.
Dark Tranquillity’s Nik Sundin has already praised the record, calling it a multi faceted journey into every corner of extreme metal with strong songwriting at its core.
The Harvest was mixed by Ricardo Borges and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The album is available to preorder now on limited splatter vinyl and CD via Bandcamp.
