Big Big Train to appear on Song Cake

Progressive rock band Big Big Train’s lead vocalist Alberto Bravin and bassist Gregory Spawton will be recording a 90-minute episode of a new television show called Song Cake in London on Friday 24th April.

Song Cake is a new TV show and live experience presented by Grammy winning producer Jason Perry and leading broadcaster and music journalist Philip Wilding. The recording takes place at the state of the art Here East studios with tickets available for 200 lucky fans to attend the show.

“Song Cake gives artists the opportunity to provide an intimate insight into the sounds, stories and magic behind their music,” Jason Perry explained. “Alberto and Gregory will be talking us through some of their latest material in real detail. At Song Cake artists push up the faders on our infamous desk and talk us through the stems, heart and soul that make up their songs. It’s loud and it’s exciting!”

“So far on Song Cake our guests have included everyone from Claudio Sanchez from Coheed & Cambria and Wolfgang van Halen to McFly and Matt from Busted,” Philip Wilding added. “We were keen to explore what a prog band might bring to their songs, so who better to invite on the show than Big Big Train as they deliver arguably the album of their careers in Woodcut. While Jason focuses on the audio side, I’ll be doing a deeper interview dive with Alberto and Gregory and will helm an audience Q&A. So, do come with questions.”

“We’re excited to be involved in Song Cake,” commented Bravin. “Gregory and I are really looking forward to the show and sharing some thoughts about the creation of several of our most recent songs. Which songs? To find out and be part of the show, you’ll have to be with us at Here East in London on 24th April!”

Following recording the episode on 24th April, video footage from the evening is expected to be released during the summer prior to Big Big Train’s Woodcut & Other Stories UK/European tour in September and October. But if you want to take part in the unique experience of the show itself, you’ll need to be there on 24th April.
