Bob Geldof’s Live Aid Musical tours the UK in 2027

If you were alive in 1985, chances are you remember exactly where you were on 13 July. Live Aid was one of those moments where music fans came together to change the world. Now, more than 40 years on, Just For One Day: The Live Aid Musical is bringing that story to stages across the UK.

Jamie Wilson Productions has announced a major tour kicking off at Curve in Leicester in March 2027, with stops in Cardiff, Canterbury, Manchester, Oxford, Edinburgh, Plymouth, Sunderland, Birmingham and Nottingham. More dates are expected to follow.

The musical doesn’t attempt to recreate the concert itself. Instead, it tells the behind the scenes story of how Bob Geldof and a small team of determined individuals pulled off what seemed impossible: a simultaneous transatlantic concert that united 1.5 billion viewers worldwide.

“Just For One Day brilliantly reimagines why Live Aid worked then and why the humanity of that day still matters now,” Geldof said. “I’m delighted that more of the UK and Ireland will finally get to see this extraordinary and compelling musical.”

The production features songs from artists who defined that historic day, including Queen, David Bowie, U2, The Who, Madonna, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. Written by John O’Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard, the show has already raised £1.5 million for The Band Aid Charitable Trust.

This feels like a unique opportunity for anyone who missed the West End run. Live Aid represents such a pivotal moment in music history, and having that story told through theatre offers something different from simply watching the footage. The show finishes its London run at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2026 before the venue closes for refurbishment.

Tickets for several venues are already on sale, with others to follow. Full details at theliveaidmusical.com.
