After three years away, Cabin Boy Jumped Ship are making noise again, and they’re not messing about.
The Leicestershire electronicore crew have just dropped ‘Chemicals’, their first release since 2022’s Sentiments, and it’s exactly what you’d want from a comeback single. Crushing metalcore riffs collide with pulsing EDM elements, massive vocals tear through the mix, and there’s a bridge that’ll embed itself in your brain whether you like it or not. It’s unmistakably Cabin Boy Jumped Ship, but there’s something fresh here too, drawing inspiration from the likes of Bad Omens and Spiritbox whilst keeping their own identity firmly intact.
The band explain it best: “‘Chemicals’ explores the natural chemistry in our brains that drives our emotions and connections. It’s about the rush, the comedown, and how overwhelming it can be when your own mind is the thing pulling the strings.”
Since forming in late 2013, Cabin Boy Jumped Ship have been relentless, touring across Europe, Russia, and the Philippines, sharing stages with Electric Callboy, We Came As Romans, and The Devil Wears Prada. They’ve torn through Download Festival, Impericon Fest, and Paradise Fest in Thailand, proving they can deliver anywhere.
With two EPs and two albums behind them, including The Heartless (2019) and Sentiments (2022) featuring guest spots from James Harrison (Oceans Ate Alaska) and Richard Sjunnesson (The Unguided), they’ve earned their place in the international heavy scene.
‘Chemicals’ was co-written, mixed and mastered by producer Ben Gaines, and it marks a bold new chapter. They’re back, refreshed and ready to go bigger.
