Following the release of their debut album, Edge Of The Abyss, on Mascot Records, Calva Louise has issued their latest single ‘Tunnel Vision’. They have also announced a Headline US tour in September, and in October and November, they will join Stray From The Path on their final European and UK tour.
Talking about hitting the road with Stray From The Path, the band said, “We cannot wait to open for Stray From The Path, we’re huge fans of the band, so when we got the offer, we felt truly honoured! we’re also extremely excited to be playing with Alpha Wolf and Graphic Nature, two of the most innovative and incredible bands.”
‘Tunnel Vision‘ continues the extraordinary journey that Calva Louise has been taking us on. Set in September 1994, the video picks up where the previous single Impeccable left off and continues their sci-fi adventure.
Jonnie has left for the Fractal World through one of the only active gates, leaving Vic and Louise behind. Louise has been tasked with fixing a device originating from the Fractal World, an object capable of projecting both worlds simultaneously and even predicting its future constructions and developments – opening hidden gates to many other worlds and temporal dimensions that are also superposed onto our so-called real world.
Talking about the song, the band said, “‘Tunnel Vision’ deals with the decisions we make that can sometimes lead to what some could see as reckless actions, which could either further or derail our purpose. To some, these decisions may seem like a necessary step to further a larger plan, but at what cost? To others, the battle of cultivating life goes before anything else.”
Previous single, Impeccable‘ pulls you with both hands into their complex cinematic sci-fi universe with a mesmerizing blend of punk, metal and electronica. They dropped another incredibly hypnotic video, once again directed with visual effects by singer/guitarist Jess Allinac.
The songs are taken from their Mascot Records debut, Edge Of The Abyss, that was co-produced by Pendulum‘s Gareth McGrillen. The band’s story is truly unique and feeds into the extraordinary narrative running through the album.
They are the band that found each other from opposite corners of the world – whose combined influences and experiences created a myriad of captivating threads entwined into their existence. Metal, punk, electronica and art rock weave through grandiose narratives and cinematic storytelling with a mind-blowing visual delivery – Welcome to the Calva Louise universe.
Following their European tour with Bloodywood, the band dropped ‘Lo Que Vale’ as a reminder of the sheer scope of ideas that they are able to pack into a single song. A frenetic combination of raging riffs and vocals meet with elegantly dancing keyboard melodies, before being thrown around the room with a formidable force. Like their 2024 single, ‘La Corriente’, it pays homage to singer-guitarist Jess Allinac’s Venezuelan roots, sung in Spanish and is an important part of their identity.
“’Lo Que Vale’ deals with the honest confusion and contradiction of our personal perception: when we think we understand something, we might actually be getting it wrong, and when everything seems upside down, maybe that’s when it is not,” the band explained.
“These honest exchanges in life act as triggers for letting go of the attachments that keep us chained to our mundane delusions. And while looking to break free of the irrelevant and continuous patterns that keep us stuck in one place, confusion builds up to the point of asking oneself if we’re really appreciating what is worth living for.”
The Edge Of The Abyss sees characters travelling between different dimensions, with people who mysteriously resemble doubles of each of us, like shadows that seem to stalk us but who, in reality, seek to communicate. Who are these beings? What do they want from us? How can we reach them?
These recent releases follow the singles ‘Aimless’ – a reflective catharsis of human communication. The incredible cinematic sci-fi videos for the album singles show different times and worlds where some characters have encounters with their doubles. ‘W.T.F’ is the prequel of the previous singles: ‘La Corriente’ and ‘Under The Skin’ – all directed and VFX by Allinac.
