Veterans of the Las Vegas music scene, four-piece rock band Chemical Tribe‘s debut single ‘Wasting Time’ shows them not to be doing that.
The band came together two years back to play on singer/guitarist Dominick Muzio‘s solo release ‘Candy At A Funeral’. “I called my friends to help me promote my record,” said Muzio. “We had a couple other members come and go due to scheduling issues, but this lineup just clicked so well in every way. They added so much depth to my songs, I felt it was time to give them their own identity, instead of just being a backing band.”
However, ‘Wasting Time’ is something of a different direction than what fans might expect. “It’s got a pop-punk feel to it, and yet it’s still a hard rock song, it’s almost an undefinable genre,” said guitarist Shawn Trojahn, who’d previously played with Muzio in indie act Wicked Garden.
The band is rounded out by bassist John Robinson, an L.A. and Las Vegas based multi-instrumentalist for 20 years and the son of legendary Grammy award-winning drummer John ‘JR’ Robinson, and Matt Norcross, who was originally drummer for The Killers and has spent the last 10 years as a member of Leaving Springfield.
Recorded at Vegas-based Asteroid M Records with engineer Cody Leavitt, drummer Matt Norcross said: “Cody created such a great vibe. He let us just go in and play the song our way and let it come naturally.”
As the band’s catalogue grows past Muzio‘s original recordings, the band intends to take a collaborative approach to new music, with plans for more singles to be released and a possible full album on the horizon. “Everyone has an amazing ear for a good melody in this band,” said bassist Robinson. “We get in a room and start jamming and someone always has an idea that we can work on.”
Future release ‘Bruises, Scars And Serenity’ is expected this year, between regional touring.
