Canadian country rocker Cory Marks continues to forge his own lane with a sound that fuses country grit with a hard rock edge – A style that’s evolved from growing up on legends like Merle Haggard and Ozzy Osbourne.
Come 3rd October his fourth album, Sorry For Nothing Volume 2 will be released via Better Noise Music, and ahead of that come the dark, stomping ‘Hangman‘ as his latest single.
Produced once again by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Shania Twain), Kile Odell (Nothing More, Nita Strauss) and Andrew Baylis (Jelly Roll, Brantley Gilbert), the new album is said to bridge honky-tonk heart and rock arena power. The ‘Hangman’ single is available as an instant download for those ordering the album now and the video can be seen HERE.
“’Hangman’ is a gritty, hard-hitting rock anthem about defiance in the face of judgment,” said Marks. “Doing it your way knowing you’ll have the gate keepers turning their heads, because it isn’t their seed planted or their own plan. With roaring guitars and thunderous drums, it tells the story of a condemned man walking his final mile thinking back to those western days; however, it’s more through the eyes of an artist (me) today – instead of begging for mercy, and following flavour of the week or what’s expected to work and be commercialised he dares the hangman to meet him eye to eye and knows that if the right crowd of people gets to hear him. It’s the change and sound the people want. It’s about rebellion, justice, and going down on your own terms or…believing it will work and he will rise!”
With over 350 million global streams to date, Marks has been captivating fans across the country and rock spectrum. Unafraid to stand out and stay true to himself, his third album, Sorry For Nothing, was an unapologetic double-barrelled blast of 13 songs.
Sorry For Nothing’s tracks range from Haggard-like country and virtual bluegrass to straight-up arena anthems and almost Pantera-like hard metal as well as mashing both styles in a single song. Guest appearances include Sully Ernaof Godsmack, Travis Trittand Mick Mars on the Top 20 Active Rock radio-charting single ‘(Make My) Country Rock’ and DL of Bad Wolves on ‘Guilty’. Sorry For Nothing is available now on exclusive red vinyl, CD, and/or digital download here.

Following his European tour earlier this year, Marks he decided to release a brand-new song, a musical rallying cry to his fans, entitled ‘Are You With Me?’ Together with ‘Lit Up’ from his aforementioned Sorry For Nothing album, as a double single.
“’Are You With Me?’ is a song for my fans, for the people loving my music and loving this country rock sound,” exclaimed Marks. “They’re the reason we do this and want to get out on the road and play live no matter how hard, long, tough and unfair smoke and mirrors this music industry can be. There’s nothing like playing live and watching the crowd sing a long and rock out with you. Are you with me?”
Marks’ successful debut, Who I Am, included the hit single ‘Outlaws & Outsiders’. The song made history as the first-ever Top 10 rock radio-charting single from a Canadian country act and over 230 million global streams to date. The single received Platinum certification in Canada and Gold in the U.S.A.
Cory Marks recently finished supporting of Dorothy on tour, and has headed back to his native Canada for more headlining show.
‘Are You With Me?’ is available digitally here and ‘Lit Up’ here. They are also both accompanied by lyric videos that you can check out here at RAMzine.
