Degreed Hold On To Yesterday

Ahead of new studio album Curtain Calls‘ release on 24th April, Swedish rock band Degreed issue new single ‘Holding On To Yesterday’ via Frontiers Music Srl.

“This song really shows what Degreed is all about,” said vocalist Robin Eriksson. “It has it all. It’s rocking really hard, but at the same time it’s very melodic. It’s really raw, but at the same time it’s polished. It’s straight rock but it’s got progressive touches.

“Every instrument shows its full potential but without taking over. The chorus is maybe the best one we’ve ever written. This song is the Degreed sound! This song is the reason that Degreed could be placed among the big names!”

It is the third single from the parent album, the first being ‘Broken Dreams’, followed more recently by ‘Believe’, which Eriksson described as “a straightforward rock song with some synth wave and pop influences. Big chorus! And yes, a love song.”

Produced by drummer Mats Eriksson, Curtain Calls balances technical craftsmanship with immediate listener appeal, blending modern punch with classic melodic hard rock sensibilities while preserving the band’s identity.

Debuting with 2010’s Life, Love, Loss, the band has gone from strength to strength with each release, mixing classic melodic and hard rock sounds with more contemporary influences, even as they toured across the world. Following the release of 2019’s Lost Generation, the COVID pandemic prevented them touring, summing up their feelings on the matter with ‘The World We Knew’, which became Track of the Week at Classic Rock Magazine‘s website a week after its release.

In 2022, they returned with Are You Ready, Public Address the following year, and more recently The Leftovers, Volume I EP, where they dived deep into their vault of unreleased gems. Robin Eriksson has also kept busy with solo material under his Robin Red guise.

On Curtain Calls, also featuring band members Robin Eriksson (bass, vocals), Mikael Blanc (keyboards) and Daniel Johansson (guitars), you will find the tracks ‘One Helluva Ride’, ‘Holding On To Yesterday’, ‘Believe’, ‘Guiding Light’, ‘My Blood’, ‘Curtain Calls’, ‘The Rambler’, ‘Matter Of The Heart’, ‘Broken Dreams’ and ‘Promise Me’. It can be ordered from the Frontiers Music webstore.
