Dog Eat Dog in the Summertime

Dog Eat Dog‘s album Walk With Me is to be rereleased on 20th September via Metalville Record, ahead of that is the band’s latest single, ‘Summertime’ that’s available on all digital streaming networks, plus a video version you can check out here at RAMzine.

In ‘Summertime’, all the ingredients are listed. Pools, Beaches, cool mountain lakes. Barbecue and cold beers, down time with friends and family. Yes, it’s summertime,  Dog Eat Dog style. You are welcomed to the season with inviting beats, loopie bass lines and Sean Kilkenny’s catchiest guitar riff. Listen while the boys celebrate everyone’s favorite season and dare not to sing along.

Previously the band issued the title track ‘Walk With Me’ as a single and the band dove into darker water both lyrically and musically. Band member John originally wrote the words over the Timberland beat for ‘Cry Me A River’ but the band puts its unique spin on this title track. Brandon Finley’s excellent percussion adds a new dimension to the band’s groove. Dog Eat Dog drags the listener into the dark waters of alienation and loneliness while somehow inviting them to join them on the journey with a massive chorus led by a catchy saxophone.

Available digitally, you can check out the video for it here at RAMzine.

First released back in 2006 by Nuclear Blast in 2006,  the Walk With Me album was only available for a short time, but left a lasting impression, being described as “one of the hidden gems of rock music”.

Known for their blending of rock, punk and funk, Dog Eat Dog experienced a period of intense creativity in the early 2000s. After several successful albums and tours, the band decided to create an album that would reflect their musical development and experiences of the last few years. Thus, work began on Walk With Me and the band members spent countless hours in the studio perfecting their musical ideas.

In 2003 they found a new management company, Vibra, and came into contact with Claus Grabke. They worked with him on songs such as ‘M.I.L.F.’, ‘Hell Yeah’, ‘Cannonball’ and ‘Undivided’ for that album. Marta Jandová from Die Happy performing guest vocals on ‘Undivided’.

Recorded with a lot of passion and dedication, each song on Walk With Me tells its own story and reflects the band’s personal and collective experiences. The powerful rhythms, catchy melodies and profound lyrics show Dog Eat Dog at the peak of their creativity.

The production of the album was said to be first class, with a clear and dynamic sound that perfectly captured the energy and passion of the band. However, as noted, the album was only available for a short time. This was due to internal problems at Nuclear Blast and unexpected legal complications, that meant that the album had to be withdrawn from the market after a short time. These unfortunate circumstances meant that many fans were unable to purchase the album, making it a coveted collector’s item.

Fortunately, fans finally have the chance to buy this masterpiece again via Metalville Records as a CD digipack and on limited edition orange vinyl – and it’s also available digitally for the first time.

The line-up of the band on Walk With Me was John Connor (Vocals), Dave Neabore (Bass, vocals, guitar), Brandon Finley (Drums) and Sean Kilkenny (Guitar, vocals). The album was recorded at Claus Grabke Studios, Gütersloh, Germany and produced by Claus Grabke and Dog Eat Dog.

Tracks featured are: ‘Showtime’, ‘Hell Yeah!’, ‘Undivided’, ‘M.I.L.F.’,  ‘Walk With Me’, ‘All Night’, ‘ESB’, ‘My Frustration’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Cannonball’, ‘Dark Secret’  and ‘Fun Lovin’.
