Multi award-winning music artist Dom Martin’s released his third studio album, Buried In The Hail, last autumn, touring the UK highlighting its release. Next month he’s back, with a ten-date acoustic tour through the length and breadth of the British isles.
As those who’ve witness this performer live previously will tell you, it’s not only the music he plays but the stories he tells between songs that can have you holding onto his every word.
Dom Martin was brought up in the often tough, but community driven streets of Belfast in Northern Ireland and has certainly paid his life and musical dues.
He has made a fairly ‘meteoric’ rise in terms of today’s industry with his jaw dropping, entirely natural sounding and unforced/unschooled skill on acoustic guitar, matched with an authentic Belfast blues voice, bringing to mind comparisons with many, from (Glasgow born) John Martyn to Rory Gallagher, with nods to many in-between, not least perhaps the likes of Van Morrison and Foy Vance.
Martin has won multiple awards for his acoustic work with a 2019 European award, UK awards in 2020/2021/2022 and as a result is now an inductee in the UK Blues Hall of Fame.
His most recent album, Buried In The Hail, is steeped heavily within the related genres of Americana, blues and root music, with many of the tracks said to possess an almost cinematic theme. it’s the first complete work he’s recorded where he’s 100% happy with and proud to release. If you’ve not got it yet, and can’t make it to any of the shows on his forthcoming tour go to his website here.
The tour begins on 4th April up in Edinburgh, weaving its way down to Brighton on 13th April. Martin’s special guest on the tour is Demi Marriner, also known as a backing vocalist for Elles Bailey.
