Fire From The Gods have returned with ‘Human’, and if you were worried about the band losing their edge after significant lineup changes, let me put those fears to rest right now.
The Austin metalcore outfit has clearly been sharpening their sound since welcoming Myke Terry as their new frontman following AJ Tanner’s departure. This track wastes no time proving they mean business. From the opening riff, it’s evident the band is embracing their heavier roots with renewed conviction.
What makes ‘Human’ particularly interesting is the guest writing contribution from Sevendust‘s Clint Lowery. The production, handled by Richard Wicander, punches hard while maintaining clarity across every element.
Terry’s vocal performance deserves special recognition here. The interplay between his aggressive delivery and the cleaner melodic passages hits that sweet spot that makes metalcore so compelling. If, like me, you live for that dynamic contrast between rough and clean vocals, this track delivers in spades. It’s also noted that Terry plays guitar as seen in the music video, directed by Tom Flynn.
Guitarist Jameson Teat summed up the band’s energy perfectly: “We’re back baby! Thanks for sticking with us and jamming the new tunes! See ya on the road!”
Lyrically, the track carries weight. There’s genuine depth here that resonates beyond surface level headbanging material.
This feels like the start of something special. Fire From The Gods have returned with renewed fire. Pun absolutely intended.
