Iconic space rock pioneers Hawkwind’s performance on Friday 29th September 2023 is set for release as their latest live album, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, on 31st January 2025,via Cherry Red Records.
The new live release follows the band’s latest critically acclaimed album Stories From Time And Space, cementing their place at the forefront of the space rock genre.
Hawkwind delivered an unforgettable set, blending tracks from their celebrated 2023 studio album The Future Never Waits, along with selections from their expansive back catalogue that have thrilled audiences for decades. Highlights from the night include performances of fan favourites like ‘Levitation’, ‘Spirit Of The Age’, ‘Master Of The Universe’ and ‘Assault And Battery’, alongside a third disc of rehearsal material including ‘Mask Of Morning’, ‘Frozen In Time’ and ‘Underwater City’.
This release, presented across three CDs and available as a triple vinyl set showcases Hawkwind’s mastery of live performance. The set-list spans their rich discography; alongside their legendary tracks are more recent fan favourites including ‘The Future Never Wait’s Rama (The Prophecy)’ and the then unheard ‘Underwater City’ – later recorded for their 2024 studio album Stories From Time And Space.
Joining guitarist Dave Brock on stage for the recording are longtime band members Richard Chadwick (drums), Magnus Martin (guitar/vocals), Doug MacKinnon (bass), and Tim ‘Thighpaulsandra’ Lewis (synths/keyboards). The audience were also treated to a surprise guest appearance from Arthur Brown, who provided poetry readings between songs and other cosmic entertainment.
Hawkwind continue to captivate new and old fans alike. Live at the Royal Albert Hall is said to be “another testament to the band’s enduring legacy and their ability to push the boundaries of space rock”, all while staying true to their roots.
The band’s new studio album, There Is No Space For Us, will be released in Spring 2025 to coincide with live shows. Tracks featured are: ‘Levitation’, ‘You’d Better Believe It’, ‘Psychedelic Warlords’, ‘Arrival In Utopia’, ‘Rama The Prophecy’, ‘The Beginning’, ‘Spirit Of The Age’, ‘Underwater City’, ‘Assault And Battery’ and ‘Golden Void’.
