Heavy Pettin return with a new album on 24th October in Rock Generation, from Silver Lining Music; and ahead of that they issue introspective single ‘Line In The Sand’.
“Heavy Pettin are back!” exclaimed vocalist and founding member, Stephen ‘Hamie’ Hayman regarding Rock Generation, and regarding their new new single he commented: “The song is really about never giving up when there is always chaos going on all around you”. While guitarist Dave ‘Davo’ Aitken added: “There’s that little voice in your head telling you it’s time be strong’” about ‘Line In The Sand’.
You can watch/listen to ‘Line in the Sand’ here and check out the video by Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art here at RAMzine. It follows the new album’s title track release as a single with its accompanying video by Bernhard Kellerer at Rocktopia Ltd also available for viewing here, with Hayman commenting: ’Rock Generation’ is a celebration for all rock fans around the world… Made to rock ‘ur soul.”
Back in the ‘80s, Scottish rock ‘n’ roll warriors Heavy Pettin strode stages worldwide whilst their debut album, 1983’s Lettin Loose, threatened to break the rock world apart. They were seen as the natural ascendants to rock’s highest echelons, touring internationally alongside the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crüe as wild Glaswegian whippersnappers. Then life happened and Heavy Pettin went on a triple decade hiatus.
Rock Generation is Heavy Pettin’s first new studio album since 1989, the band featuring Hayman, Dave ‘Davo’ Aitken and Richie ‘St. James’ Dews on guitars and backing vocals, plus David ‘Boycee’ Boyce on bass and Mick ‘The Wizard’ Ivory on drums. The new album is said to be chock full of classic song-strong rock ‘n’ roll that fits in the slipstream between Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy.
Made in Glasgow at Morsecode Studios and produced with a timeless sheen by Ciarán O’Shea, the ten cuts are said to bristle with “full-frontal attitude and powerful melodies”. The title track is a hip swinging anthemic swagger, ‘Oblivion’ features guest vocals from Roni Lee and has a Celtic groove plus an singalong chorus, while ‘X-Rated’ apparently fuses the attitude of Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street with the punch and panache of the Sunset Strip.
To mark the release of their brand new album, Heavy Pettin will embark on a 14 date tour with rock legends Uriah Heep and April Wine, hitting venues in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland.
Rock Generation features the tracks: ‘Rock Generation’, ‘Faith Healer (Kill My Demons)’, ‘Brother Sister‘, ‘Oblivion’, ‘Mother Earth’, X – Rated’, ‘Bullets And Pills’, ‘Line In The Sand’, ‘Live UR Best Life’ and This Life’ – It will be available as a vinyl, CD, and on digital formats and can be ordered here.
