Jamie Lenman has released the gritty new single ‘Not Likely’, his first new music since 2023’s EP Iknowyouknowiknow. The track is a feisty, punk-fuelled groove that sets the scene for more music to come.
The former Reuben frontman channelled early US punk on the recording, explaining: “I wanted to channel early US punk like Fang, like a bunch of kids in a room who don’t really know what they’re doing. That’s why I played everything myself, for that slightly messy vibe.”
Lenman recorded the track with Luke Pickering, who he met through his friends False Advertising. On the song’s pessimistic tone, he admitted: “I don’t usually like to put negative vibes into the air like this, but sometimes that’s just how you feel, and that’s OK.”
Having stepped back from constant touring and releasing to focus on his Patreon fan club, ‘Not Likely’ signals a welcome return from the creative powerhouse in 2026, which also includes an appearance at ArcTangent Festival on 22 August.
The single is available exclusively on Bandcamp, where fans can listen or pay-what-you-want to buy.
