British guitarist and singer/songwriter, Joanne Shaw Taylor, is due to release a follow-up to her 2019 critically acclaimed album Reckless Heart, and pre-empts that with the release of her latest single ‘If That Ain’t A Reason’ and confirmation of a UK Tour this November.
Newly signed worldwide to Keeping The Blues Alive Records, ‘If That Ain’t A Reason’ was produced and recorded by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
When the pandemic put the brakes on musicians touring during 2020 and most of 2021, Taylor thought it was the right time to head into the studio to record some new music.
Regarding the single, Taylor remarked: “It was a Little Milton song Joe texted to me when we were in the early stages of discussing songs. I’d never heard it before and loved it. Super funky and great, almost comical lyric at times.”
Taylor’s warm, more mature vocals narrate this brassy gospel rolling rendition of the number, while inserting a brief but vital wrangling solo about half way through.
Bonamassa and Smith will also appear on guitar for the forthcoming album, as will keyboard player Reese Wynans, Steve Mackey on bass, Greg Morrow on drums, Steve Patrick on trumpet, Mark Douthit on sax and Barry Green on trombone.
