Chart-topping British blues rock guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor has a new single out in ‘A Good Goodbye’, taken from her forthcoming studio album due for release later this year.
Co-written with Carmen Vandenburg, Taylor said of the composition, “This song is about knowing when it’s time to leave a relationship and that it will actually be a blessing.”
The single is now available for streaming here and you can check out the official music video here at RAMzine.
As you’ll hear Taylor’s crisp but melodic guitar lines slip in and out rhythmically with a charismatic allure, while vocally a bitter ending is delineated with a passive soulful regret.

The new single follows her Christmas time cover of the Joan Armatrading classic ‘All The Way From America’, that was a masterful interpretation of deep emotional connection and enduring hope.
That song was apparently chosen and produced by producer Kevin Shirley, that both ladies were brought up in the same part of the West Midlands, and share a similar first name notwithstanding.
“You called all the way from America, but my heart couldn’t stand the pain of that promised love,” go the lyrics, Taylor’s voice weaving a tale of distant love and the strength found in solitude. “This song is a journey of heartache and resilience. It’s about the pain of waiting for a love that’s always out of reach, and the power in finally letting go,” reflected the singer/guitarist.
Taylor imbued Armatrading’s hit with a wistful longing, and something of a modern production edge while leaning into a musical mood reminiscent of Tom Petty with a Southern rock edge.
