Karnivool has issued ‘Opal’ as their latest single taken from their forthcoming In Verses album that’s due in February 2026.
The penultimate track on the new album, it finds Karnivool at their most emotive. It also has deep roots for he band, as guitarist Drew Goddard explained, “‘Opal‘ pulls together ideas from some of my earliest days writing with the band. The riff in the middle and end was actually the first thing I recorded in the Themata era, on a computer at my parents’ house.
“Twenty years later, it found its place here. Jon dug it up, and we made it feel more current. The verse that starts with ‘You’ve been holding up…’ was a section left off ‘Aeons‘ from Asymmetry. The whole track came together in a way we’ve never experienced before – These old, separate ideas suddenly just fell into place.

Born out of relentless experimentation in their Perth studio with longtime collaborator Forrester Savell, the road to Karnivool’s fourth studio record has not been linear nor straightforward – just like the music they create. In Verses is a culmination of the last decade of life experiences that have brought Karnivool to this point. The album’s ten tracks journey collective feelings of frustration, catharsis and a rediscovery of identity.
Karnivool is set to tour the UK and Europe throughout April and May 2026 as part of their In Verses Tour.
Vocalist Ian Kenny said, “It’s been a minute since we did a headline tour of Europe and maybe a touch longer (wink wink) since we went out on the road with a new album in tow. Friends, we cannot wait to show you the fruits of our labours!”
The tour will take in 22 dates across 13 countries. With support coming from Intervals – the Canadian instrumental progressive metal band who released their Memory Place album in 2024. Confirmed UK dates are listed below.
