Long Distance Calling Live Not Erased

Out now via earMUSIC, Live At Lichtburg from Long Distance Calling.

The album brings together highlights from across the band’s catalogue, with a particular focus on their Eraser and Avoid The Light albums. Enhanced by orchestral arrangements featuring strings and brass, the performance moves seamlessly from delicate, intimate moments to towering walls of sound, and said to demonstrate “artistic depth, dynamic range, and emotional resonance.”

Live At Lichtburg is both a new live album and film that captures Long Distance Calling at a defining milestone in their career: a sold-out performance at the historic Lichtburg Cinema in Essen, Germany, in front of more than 1,200 devoted fans.

Since their debut in 2007, the Münster-based quartet — David Jordan (Guitars), Florian Füntmann (Guitars), Jan Hoffmann (Bass), and Janosch Rathmer (Drums) — has become a modern benchmark for progressive and cinematic instrumental rock. With Live At Lichtburg they present not only the biggest headline show of their career but also a unique reimagining of their catalogue, enriched by strings and brass to expand their trademark sound into bold new dimensions.

The band has steadily been releasing singles alongside live videos, giving fans the chance to relive the atmosphere and energy of the evening. The latest is ‘Eraser’ but you can check all the videos out here at RAMzine.

Originally featured on the band’s 2020 album How Do We Want To Live?, ‘Hazard’ is considered to be one of their most atmospheric and emotionally gripping compositions. Its powerful live rendition gains additional organic force – a blend of precise musicianship, pulsating grooves, and the cinematic sound Long Distance Calling is known for.

The accompanying live video captures the special atmosphere of the night: the monumental stage of the Lichtburg, the close connection between band and audience, and the dynamic presence of a song that feels even more immersive live than on the studio recording.

Following the intensity of earlier single, ‘Kamilah’, second single ‘Out There’ revealled a contrasting side of the band: expansive, dynamic, and filled with cinematic tension. Gradually unfolding into a breathtaking piece of instrumental storytelling.

The accompanying live videos translate this visually – the glowing stage lights of the Lichtburg, the band’s focused performance, and an audience completely immersed in every note.

The release is available in multiple formats — 2LP gatefold heavyweight 180g + Blu-ray and CD + Blu-ray digipak — offering fans both the audio and visual essence of the night – It can be ordered here.

Tracks featured are: ‘Enter: Death Box’, ‘Blades’, ‘Kamilah’, ‘Giants Leaving’, ‘Hazard’, ‘Immunity’, ‘500 Years’, ‘Eraser’, ‘Apparitions’, ‘Black Paper Planes’, ‘359’, ‘Sundown Highway’, ‘Out There’ and ‘Metulsky Curse Revisited’.
