Lord of the Lost have never been a band content to sit still. When we caught up with them at Download Festival, that restless creativity was palpable. These are musicians who treat every release as an opportunity to push into unfamiliar territory, and their latest single ‘Winter’s Dying Heart’ proves the point beautifully.
The track arrived as the final preview before the release of OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 via Napalm Records. It’s a grandiose ballad that aches in all the right places. For the first time in their history, the Hamburg outfit have gone fully animated, working with film studio Kotburschi Kollektiv to create something genuinely unexpected.
Frontman Chris Harms describes the song as hurting “in the most beautiful way,” comparing its slow, heavy waves to a blanket of melancholy you can wrap yourself in. The title “Winter” refers not to the season but to the video’s protagonist, around whom this modern fairy tale unfolds.
OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 brings eleven new tracks to the trilogy, featuring collaborations with Infected Rain’s Lena Scissorhands, IAMX, and Eurovision 2023 runner up Käärijä, whose appearance on ‘Raveyard’ blends industrial, gothic, and Finnish rap into something that probably shouldn’t work but absolutely does.
2026 takes them across North America, Australia, and a mammoth 19-country European tour.
Watch ‘Winter’s Dying Heart’ now and pick up OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 from December 12. Several vinyl editions have already sold out, so move quickly if you want something physical.
