Luke Combs is back with his most personal record yet, and honestly? We’re here for it.
The country titan drops The Way I Am on March 20 via Sony Music Nashville, a sprawling 22-track collection that digs deep into the stuff that matters: family, doubt, belief, and finding clarity when life gets loud. The lead single ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ arrived this week, co-written by Combs alongside Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton.
“It’s been a long process getting this thing going, but I’m really proud of this record,” Combs says. “I’ve loved the song ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ for a long time and it’s been awesome to see how excited the fans are for that one as well.”
Look, we know what you’re thinking. A country artist on RAMzine? But here’s the thing, Combs has that whisky bar warmth to his voice, those soulful southern textures that hit different when you need something tender. Even us metalheads have softer moments, and sometimes a Sunday afternoon calls for something that feels like worn leather and firelight rather than blast beats.
The album follows his Grammy-nominated Fathers & Sons and includes previously released tracks ‘My Kinda Saturday Night,’ ‘Days Like These,’ ’15 Minutes,’ ‘Giving Her Away,’ and ‘Back in the Saddle’. That last one gave him his 20th consecutive number one at country radio, extending his own record.
UK fans can catch the My Kinda Saturday Night Tour this summer across three sold-out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium (July 31, August 1-2) with Thomas Rhett, plus two nights at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield (July 24-25) featuring The Teskey Brothers. The man performed ‘Fast Car’ with Tracy Chapman at the Grammys and helped raise over $24 million for Hurricane Helene relief. Real ones recognise real ones.
Perfect weekend chill listening.
