Puerto Rican melodic rock veterans Mattador have announced their new album III, set for release on 19th June 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl. The album arrives alongside lead single ‘Black Water’ and its official video.
Originally active from 1988 to 1995, Mattador built a loyal following through their explosive live shows and a blend of hard rock with Latin influences, performing alongside the likes of Aerosmith and Iron Maiden and gaining attention across the European rock scene. Reunited in 2022, the founding members have channelled decades of experience into twelve brand new tracks spanning power ballads, riff heavy anthems, and high octane rockers.
III was co-produced and engineered by Bob St. John, whose credits include Extreme, Dokken, and Collective Soul. The current lineup features original members Michael Villegas on vocals, Carlos Benitez on drums and vocals, and Miguel Rodriguez on guitar and violin, alongside new bassist Abraham Millett, who has toured with Third Eye Blind.
Drummer Carlos Benitez says the album represents a more organic approach to production, with the band working hard to find a sound that feels powerful and current while standing apart from the standard modern template.
III is released on 19th June 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch the video for ‘Black Water’ now.
