Mercy Kelly return with ‘Out in the Night’, a track that captures those liminal hours when the night feels full of possibility and the choices you make seem to matter more than they probably should.
It’s the Manchester outfit’s third release of 2025 and marks their first new music since reshaping into a four piece. The lineup now features Jack on vocals and guitar, Adam on guitar, Tom on bass, and Connor on drums.
Sonically, ‘Out in the Night’ delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a band who wear their influences openly. Those jangly, chorus drenched guitars that defined the 80s through acts like The Cure and Big Country are all present, but there’s a newfound urgency here. It feels like a band finding their feet in a new configuration and liking where they’re standing.
Mercy Kelly started life back in 2019 as an acoustic duo, just Jack and Adam figuring out what they wanted to say. Since then they’ve built a solid reputation through festival slots at Kendal Calling and Tramlines, racking up over 500 plays on Amazing Radio along the way.
The track explores those late night moments where uncertainty and hope crash into each other. We’ve all been there, standing at some crossroads at 2am, knowing the decision you make now will ripple forward somehow.
You can catch Mercy Kelly headlining Off The Square in Manchester on December 13th. They’re also working on a new EP due early 2026, featuring live favourites and fresh material recorded at Kempston Street Studios with producer Alex Quinn.
