You can add another European rock festival to your list of places to visit this summer with the announcement that over the weekend of 26th to 27th June, the inaugural Hells Bells Festival will take place at Szczecin in Poland.
In fact, it’s going deep into the heart of Szczecin, with the event taking place at the scenic Plac Gryfitów on Łasztownia, a historic island district with a stunning view of the Oder River and its historic port cranes, known locally as craneosaurs!
Hells Bells Festival is promising a mix of international legends, top domestic acts and younger new bands. The first wave of confirmed bands is led by homeland act and death metal pioneers Vader. Piotr ‘Peter’ Wiwczarek and his cohort are returning to Szczecin for a highly anticipated performance, ending a long absence from the city’s stages and promising to deliver a set of pure carnage.
Joining them from our shores, hardcore punk icons Discharge, architects of the D-beat style and the band behind the legendary 1982 classic Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing, will make their appearance. Their set completes the Big Three of British punk in Szczecin, following recent visits from The Exploited and GBH.
Polish punk rock pioneers Dezerter will also be present to celebrate their 45th anniversary as a band, with a new album due out beforehand in February and a career-spanning set over the weekend. Currently their only confirmed festival date this year, boundary-pushing black metal band Furia will also be present.
Early Bird weekend tickets are available now until 9th February or indeed until they sell out. In addition to standard passes, the festival offers reduced rates for minors (ages 13 to 18) and special family tickets (for children under 13 with a guardian).
