Port Noir’s Ebb & Flow

Swedish progressive rock band Port Noir will release The Dark We Keep, their fifth album, on 15th May through InsideOutMusic.

Out now is their latest single, ‘Ebb And Flow’, described as a modern alt-metal track exploring disconnection, decay, and the struggle to stay awake in a world on autopilot.

Port Noir, featuring Love Andersson (vocals, bass and guitar), Andreas Hollstrand (guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) and AW Wiberg (drums), commented on it, saying: “Sometimes we don’t write songs to arrive somewhere. We write them to move. Instead of verses and choruses, we let ideas drift, repeat, and change shape. The movement is the destination. This is a formula we explored and utilized on our earlier albums and something we wanted to tap back into while writing ‘Ebb And Flow’.

“Lyrically it portrays a world caught in endless cycles of numb repetition, where we slowly lose awareness, identity, and agency without resisting. There’s no collapse or climax, only quiet erosion. The ‘Ebb And Flow’ keeps everything moving just enough to feel alive, while actually preventing change.”

It is the fourth single from The Dark We Keep, the previous ones being ‘Complicated’ and ‘Redshift’ that came out last year and most recently ‘Noir’, on which Port Noir commented: “‘Noir’ taps into the dark and raw energy that signifies the vibe of the new album. We wanted to create something that relentlessly keeps building, like an overwhelming void of light that won’t give in. It’s a lot heavier than anything we’ve released to date, yet there is a sense of sentimentality and solace that guides you through the storm that is ‘Noir’.

“Lyrically it takes you through a seemingly endless night that bends you to its will. Where bliss and despair make you grasp at anything to get through.”

The Dark We Keep will be available in various formats and features the tracks: ‘Complicated’, ‘Redshift’, ‘Noir’, ‘Ebb And Flow’, ‘My Destroyer’, ‘Vargtimmen’, ‘Burst’, ‘Reverie’, ‘This View’, ‘Bloodlust’ and ‘We Shall Die Together’.
