Southern California rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck cry out ‘I Wanna Give It’ on their new single, taken from their next studio album, Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes, due on 22nd August via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.
Between heavily struck chords and longer lilting melodies, Robert Jon & The Wreck‘s new single ‘I Wanna Give It’ proves to be a love story wherein the protagonist jumps into the fire even though he’s likely to get burned – It’s Rolling Stones country rock with warm yet wistful Allman Brothers instrumentation, and some high breezy harmonies.
Co-written during the quiet, uncertain stretch when touring had come to a halt, ‘I Wanna Give It’ takes inspiration from long nights spent jamming with friends on a porch in San Juan Capistrano. “It was a bit of a throwback,” recalled lead guitarist Henry James Schneekluth. “We’d play acoustic guitars into the early hours, doing whatever we could to keep our minds at ease.” Written in collaboration with longtime friends Ian Cullen and Shane Krevoy (who also co-wrote ‘Oh Miss Carolina’), the track was brought to life with producer Dave Cobb at the helm, capturing the warm, wistful tone of a country-leaning rock song that feels both deeply personal and instantly familiar.
Lyrically, ‘I Wanna Give It’ tells a story of fearless love and reckless abandon – Of running away with someone even when the outcome is uncertain. “It doesn’t necessarily have a happy ending,” Schneekluth said, “but it’s told with no regrets. Love can blind us sometimes, but it can also inspire us to live boldly. That’s something we all deserve to feel.”
Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes was recorded in Savannah with the band living communally throughout the process—Eating, writing, and recording together under producer David Cobb’s watchful eye. The album captures the raw chemistry that has made their live shows legendary, pairing hard-driving rockers with heartfelt ballads, all anchored by the band’s sharp musicianship and soul-baring lyrics.
“This record really represents who we are right now, both musically and personally,” said frontman Robert Jon Burrison. “We stepped away from our day-to-day and just focused on the songs, and you can feel that in every track.”
Tracks featured are: ‘Sittin’ Pretty’, ‘Ashes In The Snow’, ‘Highway’, ‘Old Man’, ‘Dark Angel’, ‘Long Gone’, Better Of Me’, ‘I Wanna Give It’, ‘Heartbreak & Last Goodbye’ and ‘Keep Myself Clean’. Mixed by Greg Gordon (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson), the album will be available on CD, digital platforms, and limited-edition coloured vinyl, with special merch bundles including an exclusive shirt and bandana.
Previously, the band issued ‘Keep Myself Clean’ as a single, Schneekluth commenting: “‘Keep Myself Clean’ came together in Savannah from a few different ideas, with Dave Cobb’s brilliance shaping an entirely new concept. It was raw, menacing, and powerful – Dave even plays a few guitar tracks on it. We rolled tape with that energy still fresh in our fingers.”
“Lyrically, it’s a cautionary tale inspired by life in the fast lane,” he continued. “It warns of the risks of chasing the next party or fix, and how that path can lead people we know down some dark roads. That chaos matched the vibe in the room when we cut the track. We’re honoured to share it with the world.”

‘Keep Myself Clean’ is about as near-as-damn-it Robert Jon & The Wreck are going to get to sounding like classic Black Sabbath, that or Atomic Rooster mixing it up with Blue Cheer – With deep frosty organ swells and hard biting guitar, this is a slow, low-bearing blues rocker wherein Robert Jon raspy reproach towards those temptations on the road convinces you to sing along, it’s message a matter for later contemplation, following repeated replays.

Guitars primed with an up and at them attitude, Robert Jon & The Wreck’s previous single, ‘Dark Angel’, cast a pretty picture that fades to grey in Robert Jon’s ongoing revelations as he sings his way through wistful tale.
‘Dark Angel’ tells the story of a mysterious woman in Savannah, Georgia – Equal parts memory, mirage, and muse. With evocative storytelling, moody guitar licks, and a groove steeped in country-soul swagger, the track captures a shadowy slice of Southern mythos, blurring the line between love and longing.
“‘Dark Angel’ was another song that came out of our writing sessions at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A,” said guitarist Henry James. “We had the privilege of working with singer-songwriter Leslie Satcher (George Strait, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Patty Loveless, and Vince Gill), with lyrics inspired by one of her personal experiences as a touring musician.
“It tells the tale of an encounter with a mysterious woman in a bar in Savannah, GA—leaving plenty of room for poetic embellishment. Her knack for storytelling and wordplay was evident, and we had great chemistry as line after line poured out of her. The song was a natural fit for Cobb’s production, with punchy riffs and a classic southern/country rock groove. By coincidence, we recorded the song in the very city that inspired it—Savannah. We’re excited and proud to share ‘Dark Angel’ with the world.”
‘Dark Angel’ follows a string of singles that showcase the wide emotional and sonic spectrum of Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes, each track solidifying the band’s identity as a modern rock powerhouse rooted in timeless American traditions.
