Scheitan’s Kiss of Death

Swedish gothic rock band Scheitan has released a new video for ‘A Kiss Of Death’, the opening track from the band’s latest album, Wine For A Tormented Soul, available via The Circle Music.

Scheitan‘s Pierre Törnkvist said: “‘A Kiss Of Death’ is the opening track of the album so it felt suitable to do a video for it. The song itself is, as most of Scheitan‘s songs these days, a dark story of love, death and all things between.”

Wine For A Tormented Soul follows Scheitan‘s 2024 album Songs For The Gothic People and their return after a 24-year hiatus. Having formed in 1996 by Pierre Törnkvist, Scheitan evolved from their black metal roots and albums such as 1999’s Nemesis into their current gothic rock sound.

“I am very much looking forward to presenting the new Scheitan album to the audience,” said Törnkvist. “The title Wine For A Tormented Soul comes from what music can mean to people that run into hardship in life. Music is my therapy; it is my best friend in dark times. The last 10 years have been a bumpy road with one of my best friends passing away too early as well as my father leaving us from one day to another.

“Some of the songs have been presented to people as singles. With the upcoming album you can hear them in the context of an album, and also listen to them in a non-digital format such as vinyl which I think is the best way to do it. We will try to come out and play these new songs for you as much as we can.”

Wine For A Tormented Soul features the tracks ‘A Kiss Of Death’, ‘Heaven Tonight’, ‘Döden Är Helt Underbar’, ‘Love N’ Death’, ‘Every Little Thing’, ‘Out Of Here’, ‘Carry Me Home’ and ‘Dream Away’. It can be ordered from The Circle Music.

Back in December, Scheitan performed live on Swedish public radio station P4 and you can watch the performance on YouTube.
