Swallow The Sun has won their first Finnish Grammy award for their latest album The Shining, and in celebration release a new video for the track ‘Velvet Chains’.
The song and its visuals have been described a perfectly illustrating “the musical variety” of the parent album, produced by Dan Lancaster for Dronicon Films – You can check it out here at RAMzine.
Swallow the Sun will close the summer in their homeland of Finland with one final highlight: on 28th August where they will take the stage at Helsinki Festival to mark their 25th anniversary with a unique performance – Between Two Worlds – 25th Anniversary Show. For one night only, Huvila will turn into a temple of darkness and light, where the band’s heaviest shadows and brightest melodies collide in a way rarely witnessed live.
More than two decades of despair, beauty, and heartache have not only shaped but fueled Finnish melancholy torchbearers, chart-topping and Finnish Grammy winner Swallow The Sun. Formed in Jyväskylä in 2000, the quintet has enjoyed numerous fan-lauded music videos (10+ million YouTube views) and streaming dominance (50+ million Spotify plays), while also embarking on a four-continent, 900-show run over the course of their 25-year career. Their new music, however, is the group’s first step on the new path to the unknown.
On 19th and 20th September, the band will take the stage in Japan in support of My Dying Bride. The Shining headline campaign continues later in the UK. As well as their first Australian Tour starting January 17th. More information can be found here: here.
