Live From Jodrell Park announce that The Australian Pink Floyd Show have been confirmed for the 40th Anniversary of the release of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd at the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Observatory.
The Australian Pink Floyd Show will be performing on July 6th.
The show incorporates psychedelic light shows based on the ones used by Pink Floyd during their 1987 and 1994 world tours; a round screen with intelligent lights arranged around the edge, showing movies and animations; and, inflatables like the bands own giant pink kangaroo.
A big part of the Live From Jodrell Bank shows has been the beaming of projections onto The University of Manchester‘s Lovell telescope.
The Australian Pink Floyd commented, saying, “The music and spirit of Pink Floyd very much embodies ambition and a sense of wonder at the expanses that lie within and without us all. Throughout the band’s work there are references to space, the planets and the known – and unknown – Universe around us. Pink Floyd has often been described as a British icon and this is something which, surely, Jodrell Bank also qualifies as. The Australian Pink Floyd Show is delighted to have the opportunity to perform some of this wonderful music against such an amazing backdrop. For us to be a footnote in the Jodrell Bank history is truly an honour.”
Other bands to have performed at Jodrell Bank include Elbow.
Tickets cost £35 and are available from the Live From Jodrell Park website
