The Cold Stares Cross the Line

The Cold Stares hail from Indiana, USA, but the trio have been winding their way around the streets of Europe in recent times, and apparently “electrifying audiences” along the way. Later this month, they’ll be playing the UK.

This will include headlining dates at Sittingbourne and Southampton, playing with The Damn Truth in London, and taking in their first UK festival performance when they headline the Phoenix Stage at the Maid of Stone Festival in Kent.

Tickets are available here, while a little shy of those dates yet they’ve ensured fans aren’t missing out by releasing a brand new single, ‘Cross The Line’ that you can check out the video to here at RAMzine and stream it here.

It follows last month’s release of ‘Nothing But The Blues (Live and Stripped)’ that became a fan favourite and a live-show staple before it was officially released. The live and stripped version was taken from their radio and record store promotion tour of the US. The song is taken from their latest album Voices, released back in March via Mascot Records.

The band – featuring Chris Tapp (vocals, guitar), Brian Mullins (drums) and Bryce Klueh (bass)  -self-produced and recorded Voices almost entirely over just two days with engineer Mark Needham (Taj Mahal, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Walk The Moon, Fleetwood Mac), Voices stands as The Cold Stares’ most mature, eclectic collection yet, balancing gritty muscle and tender emotion in equal measure.

“We approached Voices as each song being an idea for a film,” Tapp explained. “I think they still work well together but provide the listener a little bit more of a journey through the course of the album than we’ve provided in the past.”

The full track listing is: Nothing But The Blues’, ‘Come For Me’, ‘The Joy’, ‘Lights Out’, ‘Got No Right’, ‘Sorry I Was Late’, ‘Voices’, ‘Waiting On The Rain’, ‘Sinnerman’, ‘Throw That Stone’, ‘It’s Heavy’, Thinking About Leaving Again’ and The Ghost’ – With several already released as singles/videos.

Their song ‘One Way Outta Here’ – from the album Head Bent – was the featured track on episode 3 of the final FX season of The Mayans and tunes from their albums turned up everywhere, from ESPN and TNT to the hit video game Cyberpunk 2077.

However, live is where the band truly thrive, and they’ve flexed that muscle on the road with Rival Sons, Larkin Poe, Reignwolf, Spoon, Grand Funk Railroad, and Thievery Corp, among others. Talking about the European tour so far, Tapp said,” We’ve been amazed by the turnout and enthusiasm of the fans on this run, and we can’t wait for the next shows in Sweden and Germany. We are also super stoked to return to the UK in July for a few dates and headlining Stage 2 Saturday at Maid of Stone.
