Known for their old-school blend of 70s classic blues rock and modern alternative influences, Kent-based blues rock trio The Zac Schulze Gang return with an outrageously catchy, raw-to-the-bone riff rock anthem with stomping new single ‘I Won’t Do This Anymore’.
“’I Won’t Do This Anymore’ is a song of rebellion against the big bad bosses of today’s world,” explained Schulze. “The lyrics relate back to our old lives where we used to mop McDonald’s kitchens and stack shelves during the night shift at Iceland.”
“When it came to the vocals and over sound of the track, we drew inspiration from Huey Lewis And The News. Then we mixed it with a Rory Gallagher-esque riff that we thought would work well with a bit of energetic harmonica over the top. We brought in our friend Nigel Feist AKA the mayor of Broadstairs to live-track the harp. On the second take we said, that’s the one! Nigel’s one of the best harp players in Kent. We’re super proud to have him featured on the song.
Continuing, he noted: “The harmonised instrumental bridge with the guitar and harmonica in sync happened out of nowhere during the recording. It sounds like something you’d hear on a Lynyrd Skynyrd or an Eagles track. That part glued the whole song together and the result is something that we thought was strong. We hope it will become a favourite live track. We can’t wait to play it on the upcoming tour.”
‘I Won’t Do This Anymore’ features the kind self-depreciating humour found in an early Artic Monkeys or Supergrass tune, while being laced with that working class musical bravado that made us old soaks fall in love with Dr Feelgood back in the day;proving belt and braces blues rock is in mighty good hands with The Zac Schulze Gang.
