There was an English girl, and an Australian girl and they walked into a bar… If there’s a twist in the tale to a very old joke and it still makes you laugh then it’s done its job. When it’s a sad story being told it’s one that’s as old as time, as outlined by Joanne Shaw Taylor on her latest single.
‘What Good Is My Love?’ finds Joanne Shaw Taylor being joined by fellow guitarist Orianthi and there’s some soaring interplay between the pair, as the painful uncertainty that comes when love is no longer reciprocated gets explored over the length of the song.
“We’ve probably all been in the position at some point in life when the love we had and give isn’t returned,” Joanne Shaw Taylor admitted. “Whether it’s unrequited or simply fades. I wanted to write a song for those of us who have had to question, ‘What good is my love if it’s not enough?'”
‘What Good Is My Love?’, the new single from Joanne Shaw Taylor, is a surprisingly upbeat number. Its catchy harmonies somehow a cathartic counterpoint to the song’s theme, with some distinctive six-string deliveries from Taylor and guest musician Orianthi also to be heard.
‘What Good Is My Love?’ spearheads the release of a new studio album from Joanne Shaw Taylor, that is due out later this year. Previous single ‘Hell Or High Water’ offered a first glimpse of this new chapter, while her Black & Gold album and its recent singles have kept the momentum firmly rolling.
