Totenmesse is Incipit

Polish black metal act Totenmesse has released a new music video to the track ‘Incipit’ off their latest album Fiktionlust. The music video stars the band’s vocalist Mold and celebrated Polish theatre, film, and television actor Jan Peszek.

Peszek is known for his work in acclaimed Polish films such as KorczakUbu Król, Łabędzi Śpiew and more recent TV shows including Go Ahead, Brother (Netflix) and Warszawianka. A prize winner of multiple theatre awards, he has been a member of theatre groups in theatres across the country, including the world-famous National Theatre in Poland

The ‘Incipit’ video was directed by Marcin Okrzesa; filmed and edited by Filmguyevsky, and you can check it out here.

Fiktionlust saw Totenmesse return with their own brand of black metal, five years after the release of To.

The album features eight brand new tracks recorded, mixed and mastered at Impressive Art by Przemysław Nowak. The cover of the album is a painting, Dwarfs and Stilt Walkers, by a well-known Polish artist, Grzegorz Stec, while the album’s layout was made by Sars (Furia).

‘Confrontation’ from the album was first released as a single, and available via all major digital platforms and you can check out the video here at RAMzine.

The album can be ordered by clicking here, with black vinyl 180g limited to 150 copies here.

Totenmesse’s band name  means “requiem” or “mass of the dead” in German and the band were formed in 2016, recorded their first release Demo 2017 a year later. No strangers to extreme metal, the band have honed their craft in groups such as Odraza, MasseMord, Deception and Hell United.

Totenmesse’s 2018 debut album, To, was described as having a “colossal sound”, the lyrics exploring death and how the human mind perceives it. In addition to the seven original tracks, To featured a cover of King Crimson’s iconic ‘20st Century Schizoid Man’.

The band’s second full-length album, Fiktionlust, was released on 3 November 2023 via Pagan Records. Featuring Mold (Vocals), Stawrogin (Guitars, bass), Rzulty (Guitars) there will also be guest appearances by Krzysztof Klingbein.
