Vogelfrey Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Two decades ago, a group of young students came together and formed the band Vogelfrey this very month. Now, 20 years later, times have changed and they have released a new version of their cult classic, ‘Heldentod’.

The single is available digitally via Metalville Records, and you can check out the video for it here at RAMzine.

One of the longest songs written by the band. Back then it was still a rocky, folky, rather light-hearted anthem, but it soon found appeal in wider music circles.

As the world has changed, so too has Vogelfrey. The band has made it their mission to give the warlike hymn a suitably more sombre tone for these nu-dark times. The result is a version that features more modern metallic tones, and a new solo to boot, but more importantly, a clear, unembellished finger pointing at the horrors of war.

It transpires the band puts this down to the countless support of unwavering fans of folk, metal and rock music” and help from their “circle of friends and colleagues”. Should you not yet fall under that umbrella, check out the video and you just might become one.
