Voodoo Circle have released a new single and video ‘Higher Love’ taken from their new album Raised On Rock that will be out on 9th February through AFM Records.
Founded by guitarist Alex Beyrodt who remains the band’s main songwriter, this is their fifth album and the first to feature new vocalist Herbie Langhans who’s sang with Avantasia before. The pair only met in 2015 at the Wacken Open Air, and it was literally on the gigantic Black Stage as they belted out the Wacken anthem together. “Herbie and I had never met before but talked to each other in person for the very first time after we’d rocked only minutes earlier the 100,000 people in front of the stage and around four million viewers in front of their TV sets,”said Bedyrodt.
With Mat Sinner and Francesco Jovino still on bass and drums respectively, their stylistic direction hasn’t significantly changed, still retaining Beyrodt’s classic rock influences. “I feel that the band sounds even more autonomous, a little less bluesy and much meatier with Herbie at the mic,” Beyrodt enthused. “This allowed me to work on ideas which would probably not really have suited his predecessor David Readman but are absolutely perfect for Herbie’s powerful voice.”
Raised On Rock was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, U.D.O.) and additional keyboards were played and programmed by Corvin Bahn (Saxon, Uli Jon Roth) You can watch the video to Higher Love’ below, here at Ramzine.
