A World Dream Conspiracy

If bands like Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil, or Nurse With Wound are your jam, then new experimental electronic act World Dream Conspiracy could be the act you’ll want to listen to in 2024.

David Moore (Electronics, synths, effects, concept, vocals), Linda P (Electronics, violin, bass, loop, vocals) and Josef Nosel (Programmings, synths, effects, drums) have signed to The Circle Music and Logical Absurd to release their debut album, Sexy Jazz Night, on limited edition vinyl come 26th  March 2024.

World Dream Conspiracy was born in 2023 by a group of friends from a small town in Colorado, USA. The band’s story originates at a psychiatric clinic where they were battling drug addiction and depression post-covid. It is there that World Dream Conspiracy gave its first concert in the clinic in front of patients, during a Christmas party. That performance, simply called ‘Live At The Clinic’ by the band, has been recorded but not released.

When talking of their origins, the band said: “We found ourselves in a dimension very distant from anything contemporary, but rather with the collagists and the most extreme experimenters of the industrial scene, the most intellectual and expressionist one if we want. We wanted to be amazed in this world that seems like a dream but isn’t very dreamy.”

“Our dimension is something you don’t expect”, the band added when describing their music on Sexy Jazz Night. “A change of skin, a continuous mutation, growth, defeat, an internal ailment, an explosion of joy, a projection, a conscious state, a loss of consciousness and balance. You don’t have to think to listen, you don’t have to remember a text and you’re not interested in knowing what will happen, you trust, you touch interior notes, a certain emotionality, there is also a lot of poetry and a continuous constant search for special situations and unique environments, with a constant macabre attitude and a latent dose of irony.”

Their music is a sound collage, with different atmospheres and changes in mood, intensity, pauses and quieter sections alternate with parts of pure experimentation, devoid of apparent logic, a real thrill for the ears. The climate is always rather dark, sick, disoriented and full of ideas and reflective cues, one senses distant worlds, rarefied and blurred, geometric atmospheres, alternating cinematic emotions with moments of liturgical and intellectual spasm.

Sexy Jazz Night was recorded between September and October 2023 at WDC, Castle Rock, Colorado. Mixing and mastering were done by David Moore, as were the videos and artwork accompanying the release.

Tracks featured on Side 1 are: ‘Hypnozys’, ‘The Jazz Parade’, ‘Clapton’s Cocaine’ and ‘M. P.’ Side 2 features ‘That Strange Feeling Of Not Knowing You At All’, ‘The Glue’, ‘Like A Virgin’ and ‘Medicines’.

The album can be pre-ordered here. You can check out the video to ‘That Strange Feeling Of Not Knowing You At All’ here at RAMzine.
